Who is Colton?
He was born “Colton James Czarnecke” on May 16th, 2004, in Peachtree, NC to a beautiful and lighthearted young 17-year-old girl named Christie Lyvers. Having him at such a young age was very hard on her. While still living at home and pregnant caused many problems with her parents. She struggled to finish high school while working a job and taking care of her new baby. She wanted to give up and forget her high school diploma, but her parents always wanted the best for her and would not let her quit. She was later very thankful that she stuck it out and graduated. Christie left home and had relationships that horribly included domestic violence abuse which baby Colton was subjected to as well.
Christie and Colton eventually moved into a domestic violence shelter for support and protection for a period of time. She then found employment in law enforcement to help protect and defend her child and other children and victims of domestic abuse. They moved around North Carolina for a while changing schools a few times. While most children have difficulty finding friends while constantly moving, that was never a problem for young Colton. Without an active father in his life, his grandfather helped filled that role with his grandmother and mother to give him all of the unconditional love he needed. His ADHD along with the abuse he received in his early development seemed to make him an even stronger and caring person to his family and friends. He even overcame his ADHD finding focus through music in his young life.
His mother sang him lullabies each night to get him to sleep and he would in return sing to her each day. They bonded as mother and child, but they held a special bond with each other through music. In elementary school he was drawn even more to music and began playing many instruments. He asked his mother for a guitar when he was 10 years old. Christie had been given an Alvarez acoustic guitar when she was a young girl and never learned to play it, but always kept it for some reason. That was Colton’s Christmas present that year that made him light up like a Christmas tree. He also began taking guitar lessons that year and learned to read sheet music and to play by ear. He never received any vocal training as he was gifted with a natural singing voice.
They moved to Hayesville, NC in the summer of 2017 and Colton enrolled in Hayesville Middle School. Christie began bartending at local restaurants which provided Colton a venue to begin performing in public. At this point his main musical influences were Luke Bryan, Darius Rucker, Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, Tim McGraw and Chris Stapleton. Colton’s very first live performance by himself was on August 2018 at a local night spot out in the country called the “Tusquittee Tavern” in Hayesville. He continued playing for free at other venues to gain experience including opening for the Chris Keys Band at “The Sand Bar” in Hiawassee, GA. The owner enjoyed his performance so much; Colton received his very first paid 3-hour performance there. He continued playing cover tunes of his favorite artists in Hayesville and the surrounding areas for the next 2 years. He even played as far as Cleveland, TN where he opened for noted rock band “Throttle 21” which led to him to be the opening act for many other bands in the area.
Colton’s troubled early life seemed to be behind him, but like most teenagers (and his mother) he too fell in love at age 17. His past life came back to haunt him in a toxic relationship, much like his mother experienced when she was that same age. The pain had indeed come full circle which destroyed him mentally and emotionally. In May of 2021, while in an emotionally distraught state, Colton was in a car accident explosion. It left him with a serious concussion, received several lacerations to his arm, lost the prized guitar he was gifted for Christmas 2017 and all of his stage equipment destroyed in the fiery blaze. Not only was his heart, mind, body and soul broken, but he lost all of his hopes and dreams in the fire that night. But instead of delving into self-pity, he realized how thankful he was in his heart. Thankful to the Lord above for sparing his life and like a phoenix rising from the ashes came to realize he had to first find himself before he found somebody to love. He has since been on a journey of self-discovery through his music and a newfound appreciation for his fans that love and support him.
Colton, like his mother has experienced many tragic events in his short life, but one thing he has always maintained is his positive attitude and willingness to never give up on his fans and his dreams. This was noticed by local country music band leader Chris Keys of the “Chris Keys Band” who did not want Colton to stop performing either. He generously gifted Colton a brand-new Taylor acoustic guitar to get his career back on track again. To this day, Colton proudly brings that guitar on stage with him for every performance playing and singing his heart out to the crowd.
Colton would like to express his deep love and appreciation for his mother, grandparents, family and friends for always supporting him and his dream. He would also like to thank his fans and page followers for all their support. Without you all he would not be where his is today, thank you all!
